Why we invested

beSirius reflects our view that sustainability compliance should enable progress, not slow it down. By centralizing supplier data once and reusing it across frameworks, it removes redundancy across industrial value chains. Unsexy, high-leverage software like this is core to how we think about impact at scale.

Anastasia grew up in a Russian metals-and-mining city in the chaos of the 1990s, with a journalist mother and a nuclear scientist father who took on side businesses whenever salaries stopped. Trading, improvising and spotting inefficiency became normal early on. Her grandfather ran quality assurance at a steel plant, and she later realised how close that work sat to modern sustainability. By the time she moved to Amsterdam to lead sustainability and transformation at a global metals group, friends already saw her as an entrepreneur waiting to happen.

Over a decade inside the metals and mining industry, she kept running into the same problem: critical sustainability work was done in spreadsheets and slide decks, built for banks and consumer brands, not for mines, smelters and traders.

She helped launch a corporate startup on metal traceability and saw how much could be done when technology met real operational pain - yet inside a corporation the personal risk was limited and the pace constrained. As an immigrant, she was used to working against the odds; staying in a comfortable executive role while the industry’s data and decisions stayed broken stopped making sense.

beSirius is the company built for her former self: overloaded sustainability leaders in metals, mining and adjacent industries who need their data to drive decisions and revenue, not just reports and PR. Anastasia believes sustainability is not charity; if it doesn’t create economic value, it won’t last. Today beSirius is an AI-driven sustainability intelligence platform that turns scattered ESG and contextual data into a shared backbone for analysis, strategy and commercial impact across the raw materials value chain.
