Maxime
Pasquier
Principal
I started my career in tech through scouting, then moved into operating at a cultivated-meat startup in Zurich, an experience that remains the most unconventional chapter of my career. I have since co-founded companies across logistics, mobility, and horse-racing recruitment. The common thread has never been the sector, but the focus on solving an existential problem.
Creating has always been central to how I operate. Beyond companies, I’ve helped build student societies, sports teams, and TEDx conferences, driven by an interest in bringing people together around ideas and shared momentum.
Time spent operating and founding shaped my bias toward ownership. When something breaks, my instinct is to assume responsibility, slow the problem down, and fix it, an approach influenced early on by years of competitive fencing that rewarded preparation, discipline, and accountability.
Today, I invest and work closely with founders at the earliest stages as a Principal at BlackWood. I focus on teams tackling ambitious problems and aim to be most useful where clarity is scarce and early decisions matter most.
Outside of work, I read geopolitics and philosophy, listen to jazz, and write as a way to reflect.
I value depth, in people, in ideas, and in the work required to turn one into the other.
